We made it back home last night. I'll probably be unpacking for a week. It's amazing how much "stuff" one little person can have. Not to mention all the "stuff" the other 2 kids have.
On Monday Hope had a doctor appointment at the U of U in the afternoon, and then I had my CAT scan at 4:30 at Huntsman.
Hope's doctor appt went well. They showed she was down to 5 lbs 4 oz which is 89% of her birth weight. So the doctor just told us to follow up here in Grand Junction with our pediatrician by the end of the week to make sure she was gaining. She has been having bottles for the last couple of days because I was unable to feed her after I had iodine in my system from the CAT scan. The nice thing about that is I'm able to see exactly how much she is eating, and my guess is she's gaining weight. She's been a really good little eater.
I was a little worried after my CAT scan because the nurse I talked to (she was filling in from another dept) gave me the impression I would be needing to go back to Huntsman very soon to stay for in-patient treatment. But my regular doctor went over the CAT scan results and had her regular nurse call me last night. She said I did have some more lymph node growth, but that is to be expected with lymphoma. But at this time it did not show any real reason for concern. She said she wanted to keep a close eye on me and continue to do CAT scans every 3 months to make sure it does not get out of control. But at this point in time I do not need to start chemotherapy. I was very happy to hear that!
I'm still planning on going to Stanford in December. I want to get a second opinion, and talk to them about the clinical trials they have there. I know they're diligently working on a cure for this type of cancer there at Stanford. I would much prefer to be cured than just treated.
I wish all of you and your families well. And thank you again for your loving words.
Love, Jen

Dear Bensons,
I was so excited to see Hope, but she wasn't at church. I can't wait to see you. I hope you are doing ok. Good luck with your new baby.
Love,
Maren Ament
p.s. from Robin: Great news about the chemotherapy! And we really enjoyed Larry's testimony in church today.
