It's like she's always been a part of our family

It's funny how in such a short amount of time, it's hard to remember when we didn't have Hope in our family. She is such a good baby. On Friday of last week we took her in to have a weight check and she weighed 5 lbs, 9 0z. So she had started gaining which is really good. And then Monday we had her 2 week well baby appointment and they said she weighed 5 lbs, 13 oz. So only down 1 oz from her birth weight. And she measured 19" long. So she's doing great. The kids are having so much fun with her. They're great helps also. Sometimes a little more help than I need. The other night it started to get really hot in our house. I went over and looked at the thermostat and it was turned up to 76 degrees (we normally set it around 68). I asked if someone had turned it up. Josh was sitting on the floor doing a puzzle, and he did not even look up, he just said " I turned it up to keep Hope warm". I told him that was very kind of him to think of her, but he should always ask first before "helping". As you can see in the video, he is bound and determined to keep her safe and protect her.

The doctor yesterday said that Hope needs to stay home and away from crowds for a little while. She said that because she was a little early and is so small that if she were to get a fever at all right now they would have to admit her to the hospital. So we've just been hanging out at home. It's been nice though because I've had a chance to start catching up on all the things I've neglected the last few months (mostly laundry :) And then next week Larry will stay home with the kids while me and my mom go to Stanford. It will be really hard to leave the baby, but I can't imagine taking her on an airplane right now. And I really don't want to put off my appointment there either. So it should all work out. I will update next week after my appointment. It will be interesting to find out a second opinion and see what options they have to offer. Lots of Love, Jen
